Twenty-five years ago today Nintendo released the Nintendo Entertainment System in the US.
Nintendo’s 8-bit video game console, the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). Nintendo added a lock-out system to obstruct unlicensed software from running on the console allowing Nintendo to enforce strict licensing standards. Sounds like more would have propitiatory games. Nintendo marketed eighteen launch titles for the game system: 10-Yard Fight, Baseball, Clu Clu Land, Donkey Kong Jr. Math, Duck Hunt, Excitebike, Golf, Gyromite, Hogan’s Alley, Ice Climber, Kung Fu, Mach Rider, Pinball, Stack-Up, Super Mario Bros., Tennis, Wild Gunman, and Wrecking Crew. A couple of them are still very popular.

The Wii Game Console has had its name changed many times before it was release. Interesting is that one of the top considered names for the Wii was Revolution. That is not half bad. But since the Nintendo executives was planning a worldwide distribution of this home gaming system, they chose a name that was simple to pronounce in any language. Very brilliant of them by making it simple. This is what I do with my domains, if a five year old can read and pronounce it, hopefully remember it, I will choose that domain.
Initially the game console was using the word WE in the name to have the players being part of the system. The spelling of the Wii game console was changed to give it a more distinct element, and would brand it to connect to the Nintendo brand. The use of the Wii name has seemed to make it unique. I have also noticed that the fans of Wii are more users of the internet that PS3 or XBox 360 players. Not sure why that is.
The Nintendo Wii camp wanted their games to fun and interactive with the players. The other concept was to make the game player more active in the playing of the Wii Games. This was designed to make parents more willing to buy this type of interactive Wii game console without having to worry about their children sitting still for hours on end like in regular game playing consoles. Nintendo also wanted to make sure at humans of all ages were able to have fun with the new Wii console game system. That must be why in the covers of allot of their games that pictures of folks of all ages that seem to be having a good time. Kind of like subliminal messages being sent out when you view it. If it sell use it, that is my motto.
The Wii has become one of the most, if not the most popular game console in the world. It all started in 2005 when Nintendo revealed their concept for a wireless controller and Game industry trade show in Japan.
The Nintendo Wii developers, programmers and their engineers all wanted to make the Wii Gaming system to family oriented and it would have to be available to be at a low enough price point for the average family to afford to purchase the Wii game system. Overall it had to be good and affordable, they are starting to think more like me. With the family concept of Wii system in place, the next was to move the Wii beyond the basics of playing video games, more like to be part of the game. The time and effort that they put into fine tuning the realistic movements and graphics would allow you be a bigger part of the overall game play experience.
